Common questions

Questions about commercial gutter clearing

Send photos of the gutter line and any overflowing area, taken from a safe position. Tell us the postcode and approximate building height.

Request a gutter clearing quote
How often should commercial gutters be cleared?

Start with the building's maintenance instructions and how quickly debris collects. Spring and autumn inspections are a useful starting point, with extra checks after storms or nearby roof work. Trees and previous blockages may mean more frequent attention. Clearing should follow the actual condition, rather than assuming every building needs the same schedule.

Is gutter clearing the same as cleaning the outside of the gutters?

No. Clearing removes debris from inside the gutter so water can reach the outlets. Washing the visible gutter faces, fascias and soffits is a separate job. Tell us whether the problem is overflowing water, an untidy appearance or both, so the quote covers what you actually need.

Can you clear the gutters without going onto the roof?

Our gutter vacuum can work from the ground up to 30 feet where access and the gutter layout are suitable. Extensions, covered walkways and other obstacles may limit reach. Ground access still needs to be checked, so send photos of the gutter line and the space below it.

What if our gutters are above 30 feet or hard to reach?

Send the building details for assessment rather than assuming the vacuum can reach. Higher gutters or awkward layouts may need a different access arrangement, and some jobs may be outside the scope we can offer. The proposed method and any additional access costs need to be confirmed before booking.

Does gutter clearing include unblocking the downpipes?

Tell us if a downpipe is overflowing or you suspect a blockage. Accessible restrictions at an outlet may be dealt with as part of an agreed scope, but a blockage deeper inside a pipe or underground drain can need separate work. A clear gutter alone does not prove the whole drainage route is clear.

Why might a gutter still overflow after it has been cleared?

Debris is only one possible cause. A blocked downpipe, a sagging gutter, the wrong fall or insufficient drainage capacity can also cause overflow. Leaking joints may need repair. If the problem continues, the cause needs checking rather than assuming another clean will solve it. Clearing does not correct installation faults.

Can you clear gutters that have guards or brushes fitted?

Let us know they are fitted and send a photo if possible. They can affect access to the gutter and may need to be moved before debris can be removed. Their condition and how they are secured matter. Any removal and replacement needs to be agreed rather than assumed to be included.

Can you provide photos for our maintenance records?

Ask for this when requesting the quote. Photographs can be useful for showing the accessible gutter areas and the work carried out. The images available depend on the layout and access. A photographic record is different from a full roof survey, a drainage survey or a guarantee that hidden defects are absent.

Can you work while the building is occupied?

Often, provided a suitable working area can be kept clear. Tell us about entrances, customer parking, loading bays and busy pedestrian routes below the gutters. Residents or staff may need notice of temporary restrictions. The timing and access arrangements should be agreed before the visit.

What details do you need for a gutter clearing quote?

Send the postcode, approximate building height and photos showing the gutters and access below them. Mention overflowing sections, guards, blocked downpipes and when the gutters were last cleared, if known. If you manage several buildings, identify each one so the scope and access can be assessed separately.
