Common questions

Questions about commercial pressure washing

Send photos of the surface, any stubborn marks and the access around it. We can assess the work before quoting.

Request a pressure washing quote
Which outdoor surfaces can you clean?

We assess areas such as paved entrances, paths, forecourts, car parks and shared outdoor spaces. The surface material and its condition determine the method. Send photos and tell us if there is loose pointing, damaged paving, a coating or a recent repair so those details can be considered before quoting.

Can pressure washing damage paving or pointing?

Yes, an unsuitable method can damage the surface or disturb the joints. More pressure is not always better. The material, condition and existing jointing need to be checked first. Cleaning also cannot repair loose slabs or failing mortar, so those problems may need separate attention.

Will oil stains and chewing gum come off completely?

Not always. Oil can soak into porous paving, and some deposits need treatment beyond a general wash. The surface and age of the mark affect the result. Point out oil, gum and other stubborn marks when requesting a quote so we can assess them separately and explain what improvement is realistic.

Will block paving need sand replaced after cleaning?

It may do if cleaning removes sand from the joints. The replacement material must suit the paving system, and the surface needs to be ready for it. Permeable paving can have different jointing requirements. Ask whether restoring the joints is included in the quote rather than assuming it comes with every clean.

What happens to the dirty water?

Wash water can contain silt, oil or cleaning products, so it cannot simply be directed into the nearest drain. Contaminated water must be kept out of surface water drains. The drainage and disposal arrangements need to be agreed before work starts; discharge to a foul sewer also needs the water company's permission.

Can our business stay open during pressure washing?

Sometimes, if the work can be divided into areas and people have a safe alternative route. Customers and vehicles need to be kept away from the active work area. Tell us about entrances, deliveries and parking use so we can assess whether phased cleaning or a visit outside opening hours is more suitable.

How soon can people or vehicles use the area again?

That depends on the surface, the treatment and any work needed afterwards. A freshly washed area may still be slippery, and block paving may need its joints restored before normal use. Agree the reopening arrangements before booking, especially where the area is your only entrance or vehicle route.

Are white marks on block paving just dirt?

Not necessarily. A pale or chalky deposit can be efflorescence, which forms when salts move to the surface. It is different from ordinary dirt and can return while that process continues. Send photos before booking so we can assess whether a general clean is likely to address what you are seeing.

How often should entrances and outdoor walkways be cleaned?

Use their condition and the way they are used to guide the schedule. Shaded, damp areas can develop growth sooner than open areas that dry quickly. Check busy walking routes regularly, especially where leaves or surface growth build up. Cleaning frequency should reflect those conditions rather than one fixed interval for every site.

What affects the price of commercial pressure washing?

Area, surface type, condition, access and drainage all matter. Removing stubborn deposits or restoring paving joints can add work beyond the wash itself. Send photos, approximate dimensions and details of any water supply on site. Also mention business hours and whether vehicles or outdoor furniture can be moved.
